Began offering professional search engine optimization services in January 1996, before there was an industry to belong to. Credited by Danny Sullivan as among the first to popularize the term "SEO." Authored the field's foundational code of ethics. Created the original Search Engine Relationship Chart® (300,000 downloads in its first month per the company's records) and Search Engine Optimization All-in-One for Dummies, now in its fourth edition. Bruce Clay Inc. has continuously operated longer than any standalone SEO firm in existence. History of SEO Lifetime Achievement Award, 2013. Every inaugural Hall of Fame needs the person who was there first, and Clay has a stronger claim than anyone willing to make one.
